NOTTINGHAM YOUTH ORCHESTRA POST TOUR CONCERT

Returning from their Festival tour of Provence, the senior Nottingham Youth Orchestra will showcase their end-of-season best in a programme of Saint-Saens, Verdi, Smetana, Bizet, and Bruch featuring violin soloist Annabel Stevens, herself an NYO alumna.

The concert takes place in the beautiful church of St Mary’s in Nottingham’s historic Lace Market. NYO will take their audience to the lavender fields and sunshine of Provence with their programme direct from the Provencal Festival of Youth Orchestras where they will have played alongside eight orchestras from Europe, Canada and the USA. The Provence Festival at the end of July features NYO performing at Collegiale Notre Dame des Anges l’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, Abbaye de Frigolet, Place de la Mairie and La Garde Freinet.

This year is the 20th Anniversary of the Provencal Festival of Youth Orchestras and so it is very apt that Nottingham Youth Orchestra, currently celebrating 40 wonderful years of youth music making, is able to take part. NYO has long recognised the many academic and social benefits of ensemble music for youngsters and the joy that comes from sharing that experience with friends in the music team which is evident in the youthful exuberance of every concert.

Start your August by experiencing first hand the joys of quality youth music making. Young musicians interested in joining one of the Nottingham Youth Orchestras are welcome at NYO’s concerts.
