Sock company donates over 1000 pairs of socks to emergency workers at QMC this Christmas

Sock-company – Orrsum, based in Wilford, Nottingham has gifted 1200 pairs of socks to the staff working in the emergency department of the Queens Medical Centre.

The socks, offered as a Christmas thank you gift to all emergency workers was initiated by Ali Lomas, a Sister at QMC managing the emergency team.

Speaking of the donation, Ali Lomas said  “This year has been another tough year for anyone working in healthcare and we wanted to show our appreciation to the 500-strong team in the QMC emergency department”.

Ali continued “Each member of the team deserves a little gift of thanks to show just how much everyone values their commitment, patience and tenacity to the job, which at times is beyond demanding”.

Ali Lomas contacted the Orrsum team due to their previous support with the sale of rainbow socks during the first lockdown, where the Orrsum team raised over £24,000 that was donated to NHS Charities Together.

Victoria Orr, managing director at Orrsum said “The NHS has worked tirelessly during the pandemic and will, I am sure, continue to do so as new variants are found.    As soon as I read the request from Ali Lomas, I wanted to help.  The donation of socks for the emergency care workers shows just a tiny piece of the appreciation that the whole Orrsum team feels”.
