Police called to flat fire after reports people may have been trapped

Police attended a flat fire in St Ann’s after reports people were potentially trapped inside.

Nottinghamshire Police was called to Comyn Gardens at around 11am on Friday, February 5, but when officers arrived all residents had been evacuated from the shared flat and were accounted for.

A man has now been arrested on suspicion of arson, the force confirmed.

Detective Sergeant Nick Wood, who is leading the investigation, said: “This was incredibly frightening for those at the flat to discover their home alight after the alarm had gone off and it is incredibly lucky no-one was physically harmed.

“This is absolutely unacceptable and officers are working hard to gather the information we need.
