Tree Of Life And Open Heaven

6 November @ 9:00 am – 5:00 pm

The Southwell Minster will be featuring yet another extraordinary exhibition by textile artist Jacqui Parkinson. Her new exhibition, called Tree of Life and Open Heaven, is actually two displays in one! The Tree of Life consists of 3 stitched panels which tells a story based on Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, beginning in Genesis, and the Tree of Life in the Garden of Eden appearing at the very end of the bible.

This story is depicted by Jacqui in three scenes, skillfully crafted across the tapestry. While beautiful and creative, the piece is actually very thought provoking. The second piece is a sculpture representing the connection between earth to heaven and between us and God. Based on a rope ladder, this sculpture reaches from the floor of the Minster to the highest points inside of the Minster.
