The Nottingham Youth Orchestra family of ensembles includes three symphony orchestras (Training, Intermediate and Senior) plus the popular Nottingham Youth Jazz Orchestra and the recently launched Nottingham Youth Wind Orchestra. On Sunday November 26th 13.45 at Nottingham’s Albert Hall all five ensembles will present an afternoon showcase of local music talent in a concert of classical, popular and seasonal favourites.

The concert will include the first performance of the Wind Orchestra which has been set up to further woodwind, brass and percussion players’ solo and ensemble skills through exciting wind band repertoire including ‘Happy’, ‘Uptown Funk’ and ‘Wallace & Gromit’. The Jazz Orchestra will entertain in the bar area before the concert and during the interval with hits by Gershwin, Fats Domino through to Survivor and Coldplay. The musical youngsters in the classical orchestras are working hard in rehearsals on their individual programmes. The Senior Nottingham Youth Orchestra will close the afternoon concert with music from Tchaikovsky’s ‘Swan Lake’, Copland’s exciting ‘Dance Episodes from Rodeo’ and Ravel’s ‘Valses Nobles Et Sentimentales’.

NYO is an independent organisation and Registered Charity that achieves its activities through subscriptions and voluntary donations. It is dependent upon funds in order to offer support to young musicians who would otherwise be unable to enjoy the performance opportunities and instrumental expertise offered by NYO’s dedicated tutors.
