Nottingham Bikeworks Launches Free Bike Fixing Project

Thanks to the generous support of Castle Cavendish and Cycling UK Nottingham Bikeworks is launching a much-needed new project to support people living with social and economic disadvantage to keep their bikes on the road.

Free Fixing Fridays will be held every week with clients able to book a slot in advance by calling the workshop on 0115 979 2433.

The project is open to people experiencing social or economic disadvantage e.g. people in Nottingham with refugee status, people on Universal Credit, people not currently in employment, people living with mental health issues, young people and families receiving statutory support and many more issues that require assistance.

Managing Director Ian Keetley said:

“Thanks to funding from Castle Cavendish and Cycling UK we are able to launch a new service that will help people who otherwise may not be able to keep their bikes safe and functioning. The project will initially run through to the end of 2021 but we are committed to making it a permanent part of our community work for many years to come.

People can support us to keep this project and our other community work thriving by using our commercial workshop for their bike servicing and buying their next bike from us. We also really appreciate donations of used bikes which are either refurbished for sale with all the money going back to support our projects or provided to our project participants to give them a great means of transport.”

Nottingham Bikeworks is a not-for-profit Community Interest Company based in the Arboretum Ward. We believe cycling is ideal urban transport as well as being fun, affordable, healthy and sustainable. We deliver a range of community projects and provide various services with a particular focus on those experiencing disadvantage.
