Man appears in court after he is charged with murder in village

A man has appeared in court charged with the murder of a woman in Selston on Saturday (July 25).

Ashley Tinklin, 37, of Recreation Street, Selston, appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday (July 28) after he was charged with the murder of Dawn Fletcher, 32, from the Chesterfield area.

The charge comes as detectives continue their investigation into the woman’s death, with officers responding to a report of a collision between a van and the woman in Alfreton Road just after 6.20pm on Saturday.

Eight others who were arrested as part of detectives’ inquiries have been released on bail, pending further inquiries.

Appearing before a judge via video link from Mansfield Custody Suite, Tinklin was remanded into custody and will next appear at Nottingham Crown Court on Thursday, July 30.
