Major events at the Newark Showground have been cancelled after a wave of coronavirus cases across the area.
The Newark International Antiques and Collectors Fair organised for this Friday, August 14, as well as the Normous Newark Autojumble for Sunday, August 16, will no longer go ahead as planned.
Public Health said there has been 34 cases in the most recent seven days, making the weekly rate of new cases now at 25.4 per 100,000 of the population.
Director of Public Health for Nottinghamshire, Jonathan Gribbin said: “I have serious concerns about the number of cases we see in and around Newark. To reverse this trend will require everyone in those communities to pay the closest attention to every part of the guidance.
“I cannot over emphasise how important it is that people follow the government advice in full. That means observing social distancing and not mixing with more than one household at home or in a pub or restaurant or indoor setting.

“Newark and Sherwood District Council has over the weekend visited many shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs to reinforce the message of social distancing, hand washing and track and trace. This activity will continue to take place over the next few days with enforcement action being taken where necessary.
“We must each do all we can to avoid a situation which requires the introduction of more stringent measures like those we have seen in other parts of the country.
“Sticking to all the guidance is the right thing to do for sake of people, jobs and communities around Newark.”
