A main road in Nottinghamshire has been closed in both directions following a crash involving two cars.
Police have been called to the incident on the A1 near Balderton outside of Newark, with traffic affected between the B6326 junction and Valley Lane.
Highways England reported the crash at around 9.40am on Thursday morning (January 7).
Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service have reported two cars were involved in the collision.
Crews from Newark station attended and extricated one person from a vehicle before handing over to East Midlands Ambulance Service.
The closure is reported to be causing “very slow traffic”.
Highways England tweeted: “The A1 in both directions at Balderton (B6326 Newark, Claypole) is currently closed due to a collision.
“Police are currently at scene, Traffic officers are on their way to the area to assist.”
Traffic monitoring site Inrix reported: “A1 in both directions closed, very slow traffic due to accident between Valley Lane (Long Bennington / Cotham Turn Off, Long Bennington) and B6326 Great North Road (Balderton / Claypole Turn Off, Newark).
“Affecting traffic between Newark and Grantham.”
