Fire caps troubled time for much-loved theme park
The fire is the latest episode in a difficult time for the theme park, based at the location of former Tamworth MP Sir Robert Peel’s family estate.
The attraction is being prosecuted by the Health and Safety Executive after Leicester schoolgirl Eva Jannath, aged 11, died on the Splash Canyon ride during a trip in May, 2017.
Cannock Magistrates’ Court heard earlier this month a ‘constellation of failures’ allegedly led to her drowning in 12ft of water.
The case is due to be heard at Stafford Crown Court.
The 70-year-old park was sold by the Bryan family earlier this year to the Looping Group, a European company operating 15 leisure parks across the UK, France, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Germany, Spain and Portugal.
