Em Stroud Returns to Nottingham with Hit One-Woman Show Following Joy-Filled Charity Performance
Nottingham, UK 07 January 2026 After a sold-out, laughter-filled charity performance last autumn, comedian, speaker and performer Em Stroud returns to Nottingham this January with a public performance of her acclaimed one-woman show, The Em Show: Tales from a Little Laughing Lesbian.
Em will take to the stage at Nottingham Playhouse on 15 January 2026, following the overwhelming response to her special donated performance for staff, volunteers and supporters of Age UK Nottingham & Nottinghamshire at Nottingham Arts Theatre last year.
Her earlier performance was gifted entirely free of charge as a thank-you to those working tirelessly to support older people across the county. Audience members described the evening as “funny, warm and thought-provoking,” with many saying they “didn’t want it to end” and left feeling “inspired and life-affirmed.” Now, as part of the Nottingham leg of her UK tour, Em is performing the show for a general audience. Landing mid-January, the show offers the perfect antidote to the post-Christmas slump. With laughter, warmth and a generous dose of joy, it is a timely reminder of the power of humour and human connection to lift spirits, shake off the January blues and start the year feeling lighter.
The Em Show: Tales from a Little Laughing Lesbian is the latest instalment in a trilogy inspired by Em’s own life and asks what happens when we stop striving to control everything and instead allow ourselves simply to be. Em says:
“The show is about how one woman – me – has found that by losing control and throwing herself into some really weird and wonderful situations, from riding motorbikes to motherhood to meditation, she’s finally worked out who she is. It’s very silly, it’s very joyous and it will definitely make you giggle. It might even make you think a little bit. At its heart, it’s a show about self-discovery: about how a 47-year-old woman can finally stand on stage and do a thing called the Em Show.”
Speaking ahead of her return, Em added:
“Nottingham welcomed me with such warmth and generosity. The laughter, the openness, the willingness to play – it was honestly magic. I couldn’t wait to come back and share this show with a wider audience. If you like comedy that makes you laugh hard and leaves you feeling a little more human, this one’s for you.”
With themes of joy, self-kindness and connection running through it, The Em Show: Tales from a Little Laughing Lesbian is fast becoming known as a life-affirming night out – hilarious, heartfelt and unapologetically human.
