Nottingham Gaussfest

Papplewick Pumping Station is host to the 2020 Nottingham Gaussfest on April 18th, 10am-4pm. The event is an informal meeting of people interested in building high voltage tesla coils, high voltage multipliers, Van de Graaff’s, Wimshurst machines, violet ray machines and induction coils. A Tesla coil is an electrical resonant transformer circuit designed by inventor Nikola Tesla in 1891. It is used to produce high-voltage, low-current, high frequency alternating-current electricity. The coils can produce some amazing effects and can even play music. If you’ve never seen a coil in action it is something to behold and at Papplewick there will be a host of different coils and other electrical equipment in action throughout the day. Admission is £5.00.
