For the first time in Mansfield Otaku World LTD will be holding Japan Fest, an event in celebration of Japanese culture and anime at Mansfield Rugby Club. This event is being meticulously crafted by passionate and motivated individuals to bring just a small taste of Japan to Mansfield.
We are honoured to announce that JPOP star MION will be attending, MION is a singer – songwriter from Japan who is currently based in the UK. She has released multiple singles, some of which ranked number 1 on the Oricon Daily Charts. She honed her live performance skills whilst in Japan, now she is touring events all around the UK and France.
Other performances include the Anime cover band Nato Heads, a traditional Japanese folk singer that goes by the name L J English, an exceptionally skilled shamisen player named Liam who has performed at Japanese events up and down the country alongside L J English. A Japanese Martial arts performance by a local Dojo and finally a DJ set performed by DJ Manimal that is accompanied by Anime visuals.
Japan Fest Mansfield will also be hosting multiple activities on the day such as Origami, Kimono wearing, Japanese basic language skills, Japanese sweet making, Calligraphy, Mizuhiki jewellery making, Japanese Quizzes, Sake tasting, GO board game sessions, Manga drawing competition, Retro pop up gaming area, both One Piece TCG and Pokémon Switch Tournaments, wax making, Japanese car presenting and last but not least Sumo Suit Wrestling.
This is all alongside a wide range of handpicked stalls that fully embrace the Japanese Cultural theme we’re aiming for. Our hope is that we can one, cater to the Japanese community and two, create an environment where the average person, no matter the age, can enjoy a day immersed in a culture which otherwise would be near impossible to engage with.
