Remembering the past is essential to protecting the future.
PLAST Nottingham, in cooperation with The Association of Ukrainians in Great Britain (AUGB), invites the Nottingham community to visit a powerful educational exhibition “Holodomor: The Man-Made Famine in Ukraine”, hosted at Nottingham Central Library from 3 to 13 February 2026.
This moving exhibition sheds light on one of the most devastating tragedies of the 20th century — the deliberate starvation of millions of Ukrainians under Soviet rule. Known as the Holodomor (“death by hunger”), this man-made famine of 1932–33 remains one of the most significant yet lesser-known crimes against humanity.
Through a series of historical panels, archival photographs, eyewitness accounts, and visual materials, visitors are invited to learn, reflect, and remember. The exhibition reveals how state policies led to mass suffering and explores how remembrance can help protect truth and human rights today.
A special commemorative event will take place on Saturday, 7 February 2026, at 5:00 pm, also at Nottingham Central Library. The evening will feature short presentations, reflections, and a moment of remembrance dedicated to the victims of the Holodomor and other totalitarian crimes.
This event offers an opportunity for members of the public, students, educators, and anyone interested in history or human rights to deepen their understanding of Ukraine’s past and its enduring message for the modern world.
