Footloose is a classic tale of teen rebellion and repression. When teenager Ren and his family move from big-city Chicago to a small town in the West, he’s in for a real case of culture shock. Though he tries hard to fit in, the streetwise Ren can’t quite believe he’s living in a place where rock music and dancing are illegal. However, he soon falls for Ariel, a beautiful girl with a jealous boyfriend and a bible-thumping minister as her father. With Prom coming up, Ren decides to challenge the dance and music ban and revitalise the spirit of the repressed townspeople.
Footloose explodes onto the stage with classic 80’s anthems including “Holding out for a Hero”, “Almost Paradise”, “Let’s hear it for the Boy” and of course the title track “Footloose”. There’s just no stopping the music!
The New Youth Theatre concept is simple. Children between the ages of 3-17 years are taught how to develop and improve their performing arts skills whilst rehearsing for a fully staged musical each term. Taster Sessions are available.
