Leading housebuilder Barratt Homes – which is building a range of properties at Romans’ Quarter in the town – has donated a set of bird feeders and bird seed to Robert Miles Junior School, to attract more birds to the school grounds as the weather gets warmer.
Rob Gilbey, Headteacher at Robert Miles Junior School, said: “We are very fortunate to have beautiful grounds at our school and the pupils are always fascinated by the wildlife we see or see evidence off.
“Thank you to Barratt Homes for the donation, we will use these bird feeders to encourage more garden birds to stop off at Robert Miles. The school has a wildlife camera we can set up so the pupils can get a close look at the different species they will attract.”
Jan Ruston, Sales Director at Barratt Homes North Midlands said: “As part of our outreach to the local community, we are donating bird feeders to schools close to our developments with the aim to ensure our garden birds continue to thrive.
“By placing bird feeders close to schools, we can help to educate children about local birds and inspire pupils to celebrate the species that regularly flock to their gardens.
“We hope our donation will benefit the school’s birdwatchers and provide a more eco-friendly environment, providing birds with greater access to vital resources.”
